Toppan Electronics is a contract circuit board designer and manufacturer located in San Diego, Ca. In November of 2000 they called Chula Vista Electric Co. to perform a survey of their existing electrical system to see if it would met the demands of their 2001 expands plans.

Our Electrical Engineer determined that not only did they not have any capacity for expansion but that the existing system was overloaded. We recommended that Toppan Electronics add an additional 4000-amp service to meet their needs for 2001.

On December 1, 2000 we submitted a 90-day schedule for a design and build installation of a new 4000-amp service. This included design and print development, permits and approval of the design by the City of San Diego, coordination with San Diego Gas and Electric, and expedited equipment delivery.

Installation included 800' of electrical trench in the parking lot, concrete equipment pads, overhead conduit within the building, and an upgrade of several existing electrical distribution panels. All this was accomplished while maintaining traffic flow and ongoing plant operations.

With the team effort of Chula Vista Electric Co. and our subcontractors we were able to complete this project on schedule.

Currently the new installation is awaiting to be energized by San Diego Gas and Electric Co. who was delayed in completing their system upgrades by inclement weather.
